Great Hospitality Is for Everyone

On a recent trip, I had an aha moment that brought everything full circle for me—not just as a professional, but as a human being.
I’ve always been big on hospitality. It’s in my DNA. I remember growing up in a home where financial resources were limited, but warmth and welcome were never in short supply. My mother, the late Revalee Holly Davis, made sure of that. Everyone who walked through our door was offered something to eat, something to drink, and—most importantly—a sense that they mattered.
That same spirit continued when she opened her own restaurant, The Red Snapper, in Toronto’s Little Jamaica. It wasn’t just a place to get food; it was a place to feel seen, heard, and appreciated. I realize now that what my mother practiced daily was more than good manners. It was a form of radical inclusion. It was hospitality in its truest form.
My aha moment came while reading Key Person of Influence by Daniel Priestley and Mike Reid. In it, they talk about purpose, brand identity, and what truly makes someone or something unforgettable. It cemented what I’ve always felt deep down: Great hospitality is for everyone.
Hospitality isn’t just reserved for guests at five-star hotels or VIP clients. It’s for anyone who comes into contact with your brand—whether you're running a business, hosting an event, or simply showing up in the world. Hospitality should never discriminate. It’s about making people feel valued, no matter who they are or where they come from.
That’s why at Ideas Period, a division of Davis Copeland Inc., we help brands define, develop, and consistently deliver their unique Social IP—the feeling and experience that sets them apart. Because every brand has something special to offer. A signature style of welcome. A rhythm. A voice. A vibe. That emotional connection becomes the true currency of loyalty and engagement.
When a brand commits to delivering Great Hospitality for Everyone, they’re not just doing the right thing—they’re doing the smart thing. Because people remember how you make them feel. And when you lead with genuine hospitality, you create more than transactions. You create relationships.
At the end of the day, we don’t just build brands—we build experiences. And the most unforgettable ones always begin with a warm welcome.
